Product Reviews

  1. No Bloatware, speedy, tight.

Posted by Unknown on 19th Jan 2017

Purpose of this laptop purchase was for work. It does everything I need in that regard without issue. I don't really care all that much about "smudge" marks or things of that nature, but the laptop seems to pick up quite a bit of them, but like I said - I'm not entering this thing in a beauty contest.

Love the screen, the brightness, etc.

As mentioned in the title - the lack of bloatware was a big selling point in me going with eluktronics. They also are a great in terms of customer support when you do call them.

The only problem I have with the laptop is the left side internal speaker may be lost. I use headphones anyway - and given that this is a work laptop I don't really have the option to send it back for repair, although I imagine Eluktronics would take care of it without issue.

Other than that I couldn't recommend this laptop enough.

  2. Great quality and solid build Eluktronics laptop

Posted by Andrew S. on 15th Dec 2016

    This is what I purchased:

Eluktronics N170 Performance 17.3-Inch NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX Entertainment Laptop PC
(Operating System: Windows 10 Professional, Processor: Intel™ Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core, Memory (RAM): 16GB, Graphics Card: 4GB NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 965M, Primary Drive: 1TB Hybrid 8GB NAND 5400RPM Hard Drive, M.2 SATA or PCIe SSD: (Primary Drive C: for OS if selected): 256GB M.2 Performance SSD, Optical or Extra Storage Drive: DVD SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) Drive, Warranty Options: 1 Year Eluktronics Warranty)

I worked for Hewlett Packard for many years and so had various HP laptops over the years for work. Currently I have a Lenovo for work, which is decent.
One of my pet peeves with large brand laptops, is that they fill them with needless bloatware which takes some time to get rid of.
Eluktronics, thankfully does not do this which to me was fantastic not to have to deal with the extra junk.
I admit that I was at first a little hesitant about purchasing a laptop of which I had never heard of before, but after reading many reviews, decided to take the plunge, and I can honestly say that I was not disappointed.

As for the laptop. It arrived very well packaged, and free from any damage or defect and powered up flawlessly.
The build quality is excellent and it is honestly a very nice laptop aesthetically. I love the large amount of space between the keyboard and the front edge of the laptop, so you can rest your wrists there while typing. The keys on the keyboard have a nice tactile feel when typing.

The speed and power of the laptop are what I expected considering the components I selected. Having an M.2 SSD makes a noticeable difference over other laptops I have used. I have not had the opportunity to use the laptop extensively as yet so I have not seen the graphics cards auto switching capabilities first hand when gaming. That being said, I purchased the laptop primarily for my wife's use, and she is not much of a gamer.

I have no complaints regarding the laptop, my only qualms is that the driver/documentation CD that came with the laptop is toast. It does not work in the laptop's drive, nor does it work in my PC's drive. The other issue I have is that I cannot find the N170 documentation or drivers on Eluktronics website.

Other than the aforementioned, I am happy with the purchase of the N170 laptop.

  3. Very powerful laptop with great large monitor

Posted by Jeffrey on 7th Nov 2016

The ordering process was a little confusing because some of the choices are not clear. Example: 512 Pro SSD v. 512 M2 SSD v. Pro-X SSD. It would help if the website had a breakdown of why each one is better or worse than the other choices. The laptop has a SD/Micro SD reader and it can even read the larger size cards, which is great (my desktop can only read cards up to 16 GB). But this feature is not even listed from what I can tell.

The product was delivered on time and well packed. The monitor had no bad pixels (I tested). The text is readable at 1920x1080 which I can't really say for laptops with smaller screens.

The machine is plenty powerful for gaming and there is plenty of room on the keyboard without your fingers mistyping due to a cramped layout. If you use a mouse and find it frustrating when you hands accidentally hit the mouse pad occasionally you can (and should turn it off) with a Function key. The keyboard is lit which is very good and you can adjust the intensity.

It was a little confusing but you can switch back and forth with the Intel GPU v. the more powerful GTX 960 or 965. Do not run the GTX unless you need it for a game or your battery life (already mediocre) will be even worse. I'm getting 2-3 hours in normal light gaming or browsing, video watching usage on the Intel GPU.

This is a big unit that is well laid out. I've used it on a plane's snack tray but it is not easy. You can use it on your lap but it really needs a nice desk area in front of you.

My reason for 4 stars is the battery life is just not good. I'm not sure if it would be possible but a longer lasting battery would help tremendously.

  4. Eluktronics N17ORD1 Pro Review

Posted by Elmer Moeller on 30th Sep 2016

Found this computer on Newegg web page. Looked like just what I was looking for.
Lots of ports and an optical drive. Rubberized finish is nice. Has backlit keyboard and number panel.
    Fast,very quiet,.and long battery life.
Only issue is AC cord too short. (for my use) Used longer cord from retied laptop.
I like this machine is because as a gaming machine,it's built more heavy duty than most others .
Eluktronics people are great.,and very helpful. (Brian,Paul,Tom.)

  5. Best value I found

This is the best value I could find. Combined with a company that cares about customer service makes this decision easy.

  6. Up front with components and good customer service are the icing on a great laptop

Posted by John on 21st Apr 2016

I originally purchased a gaming laptop from another vendor - these websites typically use the manufacturer's web promo graphics and descriptions. Well to my chagrin, the laptop I got (GeForce 970M with 256G SSD and 1TB HDD with 16GB DDR4) arrived with a regular SATA SSD, so this machine that I paid a premium price for, had a mid to low end SSD - boot time and program launch times told me all I needed to know.

So off to Eluktronics.com I went. I was able to get exactly the machine I wanted at the same price point - stepping down to a GeForce 960, but going up to 32GB RAM, and the most important thing - the PCIe SSD. What a difference this makes! With load times still one of the most noticeable lags in computing, having the speed increase over a SATA SSD is really noticeable. I can't overstate how great it is to be able to customize the machine you want with the array of options that Eluktronics gives you for RAM, SSD, HDD, etc.

The activation had a hiccup, but a quick call to Eluktronics, and I got a live person right away, who actually called me back in less than a half hour with an actual solution to the issue.

I'm getting a solid 360 mb connection to my router, the screen looks beautiful, and the GeForce 960 is enough to run PCSX2 at triple the standard resolution - it looks tremendous.
