Needs some design review
Technique wise, it is briliant. The perfect hardware. Price wise, affordable. Living in Europe has it's drawbacks, like transportation price and extra VAT that needs to be paid, but it is what it is.
The part that has let me down is the keyboard spacing and the weird keys font. I know, it might sound like a stupid thing to complaint for for such laptop, but it's really frustrating typpo-wing because of keys spacing.
Awesome Laptop
The laptop is as advertised... cpu, graphics, etc. are all on point. Using it primarily for soft. eng. work. CPU and 64 Gb ram is great for back end work... standing up container stacks like a boss. I'm runnig linux (pop_os w/nvidia) in a dual boot env. windows is relegated for games when needed, otherwise linux. Dota 2 works smoothly on all high. CS:GO has some gnome issue on linux, but on windows running on high with 250+ frames.
2 glaring issues that I've noticed over past 2-3 weeks of ownership: 1) is Fn key being locked/unlocked... if you don't forget to Fn+Esc on startup (boot setup isn't recognized universally), your screwed if in game you hit F1, it will put your laptop to sleep. Bad setup imo for a gaming laptop. Either remove those damn Fn keys and keep them strickly F1-12 or let F1-12 be default and use Fn for them fancy functions, or remove sleep key all together, who uses that? 2) Num pad is useless and allows for miss-type when reaching for directional keys in text editor, especially frustrating that End and Ins keys are sitting right there to screw you royally. Tip to EUL: remove numpad, center keyboard, flank with speakers (removing them from bottom)
Great Laptop
Incredibly fast compared to my old laptop. First gaming laptop I have ever had and it runs incredibly fast and plays any games. Productivity wise I can run stat program well and any other work I have.
Nearly Perfect (4.5 Stars)
I've had this laptop for a month and a half now and it is amazing. There are only two areas of concern/complaint I have in contrast to the laundry list of positives. Overall, I would definitely recommend this as a light desktop replacement, and maybe an everyday driver with an external keyboard (more on that later).
Negatives:
I had an issue where my second SSD completely disappeared. The BIOS wouldn't recognize it, the OS wouldn't recognize it, and I was in complete panic for about 2 hours before I fixed it myself. This happened seemingly without reason, and I haven't had it happen twice.
The keyboard is not great. The actuation feels weird, as the keys have a tougher actuation and softer travel. In addition, and more importantly, the keys only recognize input if you hit them directly in the center of the key. This makes fast typing very very annoying and borderline unusebale (I use an external gaming keyboard all the time, so I don't encounter this problem too often
The USB-C port cannot be used for docking stations, external displays, or anything that uses power. It is data-transfer only and can be destroyed by incoming power
Positives:
The trackpad is great, precise, and smooth, unlike other cheap, plastic, sticky trackpads.
The control center is simple but great for controlling the profiles seamlessly and quickly. I only wish it had more detailed statistics and readings of the SSDs, the CPU, GPU, Memory, etc.
The lack of bloatware is such a small but important detail, thank you Eluktronics
The updated drivers are easy to find and installed without a problem.
Each profile delivers great gaming performance, so you can game in the office without too much concern.
The display has great colors, a low response time, and low backlight bleed (my model), no complaints at all here.
The cold start time is often under 10 seconds for me, it's so fast and convenient.
The IO is great: USBs, Ethernet, HDMI, SD card reader, DisplayPort, USB-C (NOT for external displays or docking stations, unfortunately) not much to be desired here.
Under load, the fans get pretty loud, but average for similar computers of its thickness and price range (if not, then quieter).
The display brightness is bright enough to work in the evenings and mornings, but not in direct sunlight, but I wouldn't use any laptop outside (dust, pollen, just too much junk for the fans to inhale).
Every YouTuber reviews this laptop with pride and always recommends it. They always adulate XMG, Eluktronics, etc for making a great, thin, and clean Ryzen gaming laptop.
Overall, I love this laptop and will be using it for many years to come. I also would gladly recommend this to anyone looking for a gaming laptop.
The best PC for gaming and working
I work with it with ubuntu 20.10 and I play with my kid with Windows 10.
The cooling works well.
Awesome
Gamer and content creator, serves both my needs. Absolutely bosses demanding software like Unreal Engine and very dense Autodesk Maya scenes. Awesome purchase. Just a heads up, if you're buying it without the Windows operating system setup, have the AMD RAID drivers installed on a USB so you can whip them onto the laptop during the Windows installation.
Good machine, but coil whine is annoying
Had the laptop for a little over a month now, very capable machine and haven't had any issues gaming, but the fan can get fairly loud even under minimal CPU usage and the frequent coil whine can get very annoying.
Perfect!
Was using one laptop for both work and games. Wanted a machine that will play the games without dumbing down the graphics. Spent time shopping and decided on the Ryzen 4800, and the RTX 2060 in order to get the performance without spending thousands. So Freaking glad I found Eluckronis! RP15 fit the bill perfectly. Ordered 32gb memory and 2tb storage to make it meet the needs for a couple of years. I plan to come back to Eluktronics for my next machine. I am sure the engineers will have figured out by then how to put the camera at the top of the lid with the thin bezel (maybe a notch?). I hope Eluktonics becomes as big as Dell, but keeps the quality and service they have now. You people ROCK! Thanks for being around.
Perfect for my needs!
I needed to upgrade my laptop that I was using for school, with something that had a webcam (wish it was on top of the screen). I also like that I can game anywhere in the house so I don't bother my girlfriend while she is working from home. Keyboard is very nice to type on but the click on the track pad feels kind of mushy. Overall build quality feels good. Mine did come with a small air bubble underneath the D brand skin. Gaming on this machine is excellent, I can play my games with highest settings at 100+ FPS.
Runs Perfectly, but the Frame Gets Quite Hot
Excellent laptop, my only issue is that the frame gets so hot while gaming, especially towards the center. The CPU and GPU stay around 60-78 Celsius with the fan boost (which is quite loud), so I'm not worried about the computer's health, but after an hour the keyboard will be hot. I give it a 9/10.
Excellent
The laptop itself is amazing. It's blazing fast. Battery life is excellent, especially with the quick button to control the power level. The thing that sets this apart from other laptops in its class: It's lightweight and it has a proper cooling system. The exterior of the laptop doesn't get hot even at full load. This has been a major problem for me with other laptops (I'm looking at you especially, Apple) where the keyboard and bottom of the unit can get hot enough to cause burns. No such problems here. It's also sleek and compact with minimal wasted space on the chassis. I highly recommend this.
Great heat management so far
Runs my 1440 144hz monitor with no issues, so I'm pretty happy.
It’s F****ng Good!
I’ve been using this laptop for around 2 weeks now, and it’s really great. I bought the base model (512gb) so I hope to expand my storage in the future. My only gripe with this laptop is the placement of the webcam on the 15.6’ in laptop, but I mean, it works. Fans are loud during gaming, but that’s to be expected for a laptop and if you have headphones on it’s easy to tune the noise out. The screen is pretty accurate with colors and I feel like Freesync isn’t even all that necessary because I haven’t experienced any screen tearing. Keyboard and trackpad are perfect, and the build quality is great as well. Speakers and audio ports work fantastic.
You won't regret buying this machine.
I bought this laptop along with a 1440p secondary monitor. I was worried the GPU won't handle the monitor and this laptop proved me wrong. This big boy can run rainbow6 in 1440p 144fps ultra settings without any problems whatsoever. My temps also don't exceed over 75.
Absolute Beast
Overall, this machine is one heck of a covert gaming powerhouse
CPU performance:
The Ryzen 7 4800H is a real monster. It does fairly well on single threaded work loads, and generally crushes anything that
is multicore, especially when in beast mode and allowing it to boost up to 72W of power draw
GPU Performance:
This RTX2060 gets the job done well. From what I can tell, it performs on par with other mobile GPUs in the 2070/2070super max-q class
due to Eluktroboost allowing it to power up above the normal 90W limit.
Display:
This IPS panel is quite nice to my eyes. No complaints here, especially with it being 144hz. While it doesn't have Gsync like my previous machine did,
I'm not really seeing any tearing either that would neccessitate it due to the higher refresh rate.
Keyboard:
Overall, the keyboard feels quite solid, and has a nice tactile feel.
There's 2 minor annnoyances.
The first one is that the numpad is only 3 columns, so there isn't an enter key directly next to the numpad.
The other one has to due with the F keys and their FN secondary behavior. As of this writing, the BIOS option to change between
F1-12 vs secondary default behavior currectly does not work. From reading about this on Reddit, it should be fixed in a future BIOS update.
Simiarly, it can be worked around to some extent. Pressing FN+ESC toggles the FN lock, so that the keys will change between F# and FN functions
as the default. You do have to do this on every boot though.
The built in RGB lighting is a nice touch. It's only single zone, but for a built in keyboard, I don't particularly mind it.
Depsite that, it can be set up via software to cycle various colors reasonably well.
Built-in Webcam:
I'm not a particular fan of the nose-cam placement where the camera is at the bottom of the screen.
That said, I already knew about this before buying the laptop, and don't really mind since I normally use an external webcam anyway.
Overall Chassis & Thermals:
The overall chassis feels quite nice being metal, and a fair bit ligher than I expectd to boot.
The CPU & GPU built in here run rings around my prior laptop (Sager NP8156, i7 7700hq + gtx1060), while being a fair bit lighter.
As far as thermals, under extended gaming, the machine does get a tad bit warm in terms of CPU and GPU core temps, but the chassis doesn't
tend to feel hot to the touch anywhere important. The keyboard will start to feel a little warm under extended gaming, but nothing uncomfortable.
The only spot that feels hot to the touch in that scenario is the deck lid between the keyboard & display, but that's not a normal touchpoint, so not really an issue.
The underside of the chassis doesn't become uncomfortable on my lap at all, even under benchmark torture.
Following on this, the fans can get a bit loud under extended gaming, but it's easy enough to overcome by turning up the volume a little, even when using the built in speakers.
Under normal web browsing/light load scenarios in office mode, the fans sit somewhere between off and minimum, and aren't noticable unless you actively listen for them
Final thought:
This machine is just downright impressive in it's performance, and feels high quality to boot. In this price point, there is no better value to be had.
My only wish in the future would be to see options for even higher tier graphics (2070super for example), but this RTX2060 still delivers like a champ.
Gaming & Media Monster - RP-15 32 GB RAM, 2 TB
I'm in love with this laptop. It handles any task or game I throw at it without hesitation. I am used to custom desktop builds so I wasn't sure how this would compare, but it's been amazing. The 144hz 1080p screen is so crisp and clear compared to my sub-par HP laptop from work, it's hilarious to see them next to each other. I haven't been able to test it out for travel yet (thanks Covid), but I can already tell that the size and weight are going to make it a perfect travel companion. So glad I put in my pre-order when I did!
Better than the Rog Zephyrus G15
The RP-15 laptop is a beast of a laptop. It pumps out great graphics throughout any game I throw at it and keeps it's temperatures well within comfortable limits. I had original bought a ROG Zephyrus G15 but it had issues with thermals as well as a plethora of hardware issues and I promptly returned it. Then I heard Eluktronics was making a laptop with the new Amd Processor I was looking for and I immediately jumped onto their website to purchase it. Customer Services was really great they kept me updated on the status of my order and I was also really impressed with their quality of packaging when I got it. Overall a really great laptop that costs less than the Zephyrus G15 and in my opinion from a better company than Asus. I will definitely be looking to come back to Eluktronics for any upgrades I will make in the future. Thanks for being a great company and thanks for building a great laptop.
this is a beast
from someone that primarily uses a desktop I have always been hesitant of gaming laptops. I have to say this laptop has changed my mind that you can only game on a desktop. The ryzen apu is super fast and I can run any triple a title I've come across with ease. It can get a little warm with extended gaming sessions so may want to pick up a cooling pad but I didn't experience any thermal throttling. All great components were used and customer service was excellent. Great job with this one Eluktronics!
Great laptop!
An amazingly powerful and portable laptop that I would definitely recommend to a friend!
Good product as expected
The product works well and sometimes beyond expectations. But sometimes the system crashes when running a high graphics game at high settings. Otherwise pleased with it.
Pleased with it
The product is as expected and sometimes performs better than expected. One problem I have is when running a high graphics game at full performance, the system sometimes crashes. Otherwise a full 5 star product.
Great for gaming, thats about it
Pros:
-excellent at gaming
-decent looking. not as nice as unibody but better than most gaming laptops
-stays cool
Cons:
-Battery life not great (about 1.5hrs when not plugged in while gaming)
-Screen is just ok, definitely wouldnt recommend for creative work
-cant open the laptop with 1 hand without the bottom raising off the table
-webcam placement on the bottom
-easily gets fingerprints everywhere, worst ive seen
-no fingerprint login
-feels heavier than expected, certainly wouldnt call it light
Great laptop if you want to plug in and game. Wouldnt recommend it outside of that. I'm probably going to return mine which is a bummer after waiting 2 months!
Best Price to Performance Product
First of all, I loved the mask they included in the package to "protect the laptop throughout its journey", I thought that was a nice touch and wanted to appreciate that extra bit of customer experience you added. In terms of the laptop, it has been phenomenal in every way imaginable. It's light, powerful, and portable. I appreciate the company deciding to go with a larger battery WHILE KEEPING THE COST THE SAME! That speaks volumes in terms of who the company works for, the consumers. I haven't ran benchmarks but from playing video games, I can already tell that this little laptop consumes less power and dishes out more performance than the PC i had built in 2015. All around amazing product and would recommend to anyone and everyone, just wished the webcam was on top but since this is a generic chasis, I dobut they could have done much to change that.
Eluktronics RP-15
Love it! The 2 months wait was worth it. Everything just works and I finally have a laptop that can game on high settings!
Excellent price:performance ratio
Excellent performance - what you would expect with the specs. Very nice keyboard and appreciate the full num pad. Thermals are great butt the fans are a little noisy.
2 things which could be improved:
1) the webcam placement looks up your nose when you are video calling. I know dells have this issue as well though.
2) the screen has some bleeding on the bottom. It's not terrible, but its noticeable.
In summary its an excellent machine, the only downside is the screen is only ok.
Eluktronics RP-15, 1tb storage, 16gb ram
After waiting almost two months for this laptop I have to say that, THE WAIT WAS WORTH IT. The laptop handles everything I throw at it smoothly from games such as Call of Duty Warzone, Insurgency:Sandstorm, Apex Legends, Metro 2033, and Destiny 2 at mostly max settings, to having a good amount of Firefox tabs open along with discord open in the background. Everything I do on this laptop is buttery smooth and satisfying. THANK YOU ELUKTRONICS FOR PROVIDING ME WITH SUCH AN AWESOME LAPTOP!!
RP-15
After 3 weeks, I am really happy with this laptop, especially the thermals in office mode.
RP-15
Excellent product! Great price! Company cares about their consumers needs. Thank you!
RP-15 32gb ram 1tb ssd liquid metal and thermal grizzly cpu/gpu upgrade
Originally ordered May 17 and so happy I waited. Straight out of the box the machine just works. Spent the first few hours downloading work and school programs, then started on the games. Destiny 2 running with custom graphical settings ranging from high to highest, no dropped frames or tearing, great color and response times on the screen. During the most hectic parts of the game cpu stayed around mid to low 70c. The keyboard is sufficiently "clicky" without being loud, as well as being easy to use for someone with big hands and fingers.
Thanks Eluktronics for making me a great machine for an amazing price!
